World's first on-street pop-up electric charge points installed in North Oxford

The pop-up points rise from the pavement when activated by an app, and then sink back into the ground when they are no longer needed.

The points have been installed on Lonsdale Road in Summertown after the public were asked where they thought they’d be best placed.

Last year Oxford was awarded nearly half a million pounds from the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles to help develop the tech. The successful bid was made in partnership between Duku, Urban Electric and Oxford City Council.

The trial, which runs till December, aims to cut down on street clutter and also give electric car owners without a driveway or garage a place to charge overnight.
