Thames Valley Police refers itself to the IOPC over Faringdon rape

A teenage girl was attacked in the town at the weekend.

Officers are investigating an incident in London Street in the early hours of Sunday, where a teenage girl was raped.

A man has been charged with rape in connection with the incident.

Shane Blake, who's 25 and lives on London Street in Faringdon, appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court yesterday (07/08) and remains in police custody.

A 19-year-old woman from Leafield in Oxfordshire has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and released on police bail until 3 September.

Thames Valley Police told us that  voluntary referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct in relation to the incident.
