Officers believe they're being committed by an organised crime group from outside the area.
Police are warning people in Kidlington and Banbury to be on alert - after a rise in house burglaries in the last two months.
In a post on Facebook, the Cherwell Priority Crime Team warned of an increase in residential burglaries since the beginning of September.
Officers believe an organised crime group is targeting predominantly unoccupied houses between the hours of 6pm and 11pm, stealing jewellery and cash.
Extra police patrols are being put on in both Oxfordshire towns.
The post added: '...but we’re asking the public to be our eyes and ears and to assist us and our community by reporting any suspicious vehicles; especially those containing groups of males, or males appearing to look at unoccupied houses.
'Please remember to take appropriate crime prevention measures such as ensuring doors and windows are locked, keys are not left in patio doors and side gates into gardens have a proper lock.
'When leaving your house consider using a timer switch so lights come on before dusk and perhaps leave a radio playing. '
Residents are being urged to report any suspicious activity to 101 quoting reference 43210471295.
