Police appeal to find wanted Oxford man

Andre Berley is wanted in connection with a number of offences, including the assault of a police officer.

He’s described as a black man, of slim build and around 5ft 11 inches tall with black hair.

Berley is wanted in connection with an assault on a police officer and drug offence which took place on 9th July, along with an investigation into an incident of grievous bodily harm which happened on the 29th June.

At around 6.50pm on Thursday 9th July officers stopped a vehicle in Pegasus road, Blackbird Leys, Oxford.

One of the occupants left the car and punched a police officer in the face before making off on foot. The officer was bruised and received hospital treatment and has since been discharged.

On June 29th at 5.30pm a man in his 30s entered a Best One Shop in Balfour Road in Oxford while two offenders shouted at him. After leaving the shop the victim was hit over the head with a bottle before they both began punching him.

The assault went on into Sawpit Road when the two offenders picked up metal poles and started hitting the victim with them. The victim sustained several injuries, including a head injury which required hospital treatment. He has since been discharged.

Berley is 32 and from Oxford, and is known to frequent Blackbird Leys. 7

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Harriett Scroggs, of Oxford police station, said: “I am appealing for the public’s help in locating Andre Berley, following two incidents of assault, one of which is on a police officer, as well as a drugs offence.

“If you see him, please contact police by calling 999 rather than approach him yourself.
