Oxford home burgled by men armed with a hammer, knife and hand gun

It happened at a property on Marshall Road on Saturday night.

Police say two men barged through the front door of the home as a man made his way inside at around 12.30am.

The offenders then threatened and assaulted a woman inside as she tried to stop them from grabbing her handbag. 

Both burglars then ran off long Wilkins Road in the direction of Oliver Road.

The woman was taken to hospital for her injuries and has since been discharged,

Police say the men were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Charlotte Oliver, of Force CID, based at Oxford police station, said: "This was a distressing incident for the victims in which one of them required hospital treatment for their injuries.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened or have any information to please come forward.

"I would also urge people to check any CCTV or dash-cam footage in case it may have captured the offenders.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area as officers make enquiries.
