Oxford City suspend two first-team players

The Club is investigating an alleged breach of Covid-19 protocols by two first team players.

Oxford City Football club has released a statement: "We are taking the matter seriously and the two players have been omitted from the squad for this weekend’s fixture while the investigation takes place and we gather the facts.

"Since the start of the pandemic, the football club has worked incredibly hard to ensure everyone is safe at training and on match days via strict protocols that we have in place.

"Everyone at the football club is reminded of our Covid-19 safe procedures on a regular basis and any breaches of the rules put in place to ensure public safety are disappointing."

The pair have been removed from the squad for the home fixture against Welling United tomorrow.

Meanwhile, two Oxford United Academy Players are also currently suspended following allegations for also allegedly breaking coronavirus rules.
