The following Terms and Conditions apply to The Next Big Thing contest to be held between March & May 2009.

THE COMPETITION
JACK fm & FM107.9 are looking for Oxfordshire’s Next Big Thing – the search for the best unsigned act in Oxfordshire.
The winner of Oxfordshire’s Next Big Thing will win radio air play on both JACK fm Oxfordshire and Oxford’s FM107.9 and a professional recording session to the value of £2,000+VAT. More prizes will be added as and when they are confirmed.
Contestants must be 16 years or over on 1st March 2009 – anyone under that age is not permitted to enter the competition.
Contestants must also be from Oxfordshire – at least one of the act members must have a home address with an OX postcode.

METHODS OF ENTRY AND COMPETITION
The methods of entry will be in for form of a demo along with act bio, photo and contact details via either of the following forms: Sent via post to The Next Big Thing, JACK fm & FM107.9, Broadcast Centre, 270-272 Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 7NW. Via a supplied link to an audio demo e.g. myspace site etc.
All demos sent in will be listened to by the judging panel and cannot be returned. The judging panel will choose the best 20 acts from all entries received to progress to stage 2 of the competition.
All acts entered into the competition must be unsigned and have no affiliation with a record label. The judging panel will consist of respected industry professionals including representatives from JACK fm, FM107.9 & SAE Oxford. Additions to the judging panel will be announced in due course. JACK fm & FM107.9 reserve the right to change the members of the judging panel at any time.
All entries into the competition will be subjected to The Next Big Thing Judging Criteria which is as follows:
- Musical Talent
- Vocal Ability
- Originality
- Professionalism
- Commercial Suitability
All decisions of the judges are final and non-contestable.
The Top 20 will progress into the SAE session stage of the competition. Over the 10 working days each band (2 per night) will professionally record 1 track at SAE Oxford – upon which they will be judged with the Top 5 progressing into the live final, to be held at The O2 Academy Oxford on Wednesday 29th April 2009

DATE, LOCATION AND DURATION
The following timeline applies to The Next Big Thing 2009 competition:
- March 2nd – March 8th 2009: Tease
- March 9th – 20th: Registration
- March 23rd – March 29th: Top 20 announcement and start of SAE session stages (March 25th)
- March 30th – April 10th: SAE session continue with radio coverage for each act
- April 13th – April 28th: Announcement of Top 5 and promotion of final at O2 Academy Oxford
- April 29th – 10th May: Post promotion & follow up
JACK fm & FM107.9 reserve the right to change the date, location and duration of the competition at their absolute discretion without notice.

THE PRIZE(S)
The prize will consists of the following elements and are subject to change at any time at the discretion of JACK fm & FM107.9:
A professional recording session at SAE Oxford to the value of £2,000+VAT
Air play on both JACK fm & FM107.9 for the winning act.
The winning act will also have a spot at The Wychwood Music Festival 2009 (exact details and the sole discretion of festival management)
All prizes are non transferable.

USE OF PHOTOS AND PUBLICITY
It is a condition of entry that JACK fm & FM107.9 have the right to publicise the names, characters, likenesses, voices & music of any contestants for any promotion or matter incidental to the contest.
Contestants also acknowledge that their photo may be used for a promotional display.
Contestants consent to their entry being read out on air and other conversations with JACK fm & FM107.9 being broadcast on air.
Any prize winner may also be required by JACK fm & FM107.9 to participate in a photo, video and/or film session and acknowledges that JACK fm & FM107.9 has the right to use such publicity photos, videos and/or films in any medium and in any reasonable manner it sees fit.

INDEMNITY
All contestants release from and indemnify Passion Radio (Oxford) ltd (trading as JACK fm & FM107.9), its directors, employees and parent and subsidiary undertakings against any and all liability, cost, loss or expense arising out of acceptance of any prize(s) or participation in the audition including (but not limited to) loss of income, personal injury and damage to property and whether direct or consequential, foreseeable, or due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.

INELIGIBLE TO ENTER
Any decisions in relation to eligibility to enter will be made by JACK fm & FM107.9 and all decisions will be final.

WINNER TO ACCEPT TERMS & CONDITIONS
Each winner must sign a consent and disclaimer form in a form prescribed by JACK fm & FM107.9 in order to be eligible to take up their prize.

TERMINATION OF CONTEST
JACK fm & FM107.9 may terminate this competition at any time at its absolute discretion without liability to any contestant or other person.

DECISIONS FINAL
In all matters, all decisions of JACK fm & FM107.9 will be final and cannot be contested.
No correspondence or discussions will be entertained.
